Connection
The majestic Sydney Red Gum (Angophora Costata) with her breathtaking and ever-changing colours, her round and soft feminine shapes and almost flesh-like skin, shedding magnificent shards of bark, forms the inspiration for Dorine's body of work. Consisting of a series of ‘Motherhood’ vessels and wall structures, her work is an exploration of connection. Each piece is inspired by the shapes, surfaces and colours of the Angophora. This tree and Gum trees in general have taken Dorine's creativity on a colourful journey transforming the reality of nature into a new existence, connecting various forms, clays and glazes. Delicate pieces of porcelain, reminiscent of bark, tie the work together.
